TONY Books Central Park map

Weekend Getaways feature in TONY issue 859. A mixture of fun postcard elements and colorful outdoorsy shots. I think it’s about time I took a long weekend, check out those castles!
Art deco jewelry

This was a fun one, being a fan of art deco style all around the city to begin with. I’ll probably put this one in my portfolio.
Typography in the THIRD DIMENSION

I used Cinema 4d for the first time to design type that’s floating in space next to Seth Myers for my AD’s cover design. Nothing terribly remarkable but I’m proud of myself.
Splurgeworthy Giveaways!

Heavy text layout with a fun splash of color and playful text.
Trend watch: Fashion Plates

This weeks fun type treatment is brought to you by fashionable dinner ware.
Shopping and Style: Men’s Edition

I made this fun little tag for our men’s only shopping and style section this week in lieu of just throwing rubber stamp over the section header (although now that I’m thinking about it I could have made that work… next time).
Fun with type

More fun with hand made type on a light and colorful page about new knits. I think the photo team must groan when I approach them now, I always want to make words out of things…
Here are a few sketches of the process:

A simple sketch in illustrator to get the idea of how I want the type to look.

Quick photo illustration to drop in the layout for position.
TONY’s Beer issue feature. Had a lot of fun putting it together and of course I always enjoy spelling things out with found items.

Some web tease bubbles

Shopping and style stories usually run with a tease to read more online. Sometimes I’ll do a little on-theme illustration to accompany them. These usually run at around 1.5”x1.5”.
